LIFE BAQUA: Solutions through the new use for a waste of banana crop to develop products in aquaculture and plastics sector

projekt baqua logoBAQUA aims to demonstrate that sustainability and efficiency can be applied to agricultural practices by improving management and reducing waste of a native crop and revalorizing it into a series of new value chains. In the plastics sector the BAQUA goal is to maximize the use of banana crop waste, demonstrating how natural banana fibres can improve the mechanical properties of injection moulded products.

The customer has presumed problems with excessive warpage in the stage of tool design. The material is PA66 with 30% of glass fibers. With the help of advanced injection moulding analysis we predicted the trend and values of warpage and thus successfully eliminated the problems.
